Stress prior to and during the interview is a common experience. The nervousness and the signs which follow are together known as performance anxiety. It would actually be impractical to think that there is a way to avoid cent percent nervousness. This never happens. Unless a human being, any candidate would feel some kind of stress for sure. So it would be better if one is prepared prior to the actual incident expecting some kind of nervousness that would build up and thus find some ways to deal with it.




Mental preparation is the single most and the prime factor which matters during an interview. One should take interviews as a process of mutual exploration between the interviewer and the candidate. That means, we should alert our senses in a way that we are done to thinking of the interview as a way by which we are equally trying to explore the company just like the interviewer is trying to explore us. This assumption will not only give us a confidence but will also save us from getting nervous if we had thought that the interviewer is the dominant one.



Then, one must be comfortable with the way he/she is getting ready for the interview. It means, the attire must make us look really smart and our own best version. This will give a good impression as it will suit the sophisticated corporate world.

One must understand the signs of tension buildup which impairs our ability to think right during an interview. While waiting for our name to be called, it is natural that there will be lots of thoughts going on. Especially if we had failed other interview and this is probably a very precious chance for a job. However tough it is to get a job, but still we must not think that the outcomes matters everything to our career. Well, the truth might be that only. But thinking this before going for an interview will ruin our chances to get a job even more. Stammering, trembling voice, shaking legs, feeling homesick are common signs of performance anxiety. And these really takes away the chances of even a very good resume holder from getting a good job. Communication skills and a great attitude is very sought after in any company job because that will be very much required later on. So one must be aware of this scenario. Thus a little bit preparation must always be done. Mock interviews, rehearsing some very probable question answer session might help a lot in taking things at ease. Common standard questions are asked in every interview and therefore if one is willing to cross the interview successfully, they should definitely rehearse.

While talking to the interviewer, maintain eye contact and try to focus on him. Presence of mind must be there and focusing on him will divert the attention from ourselves. This will make sure that the nervous personality do not shows up.

The best way to ease stress is to expect nervousness and get mentally prepared to face it. This will stop our mind from getting impaired at the real moment. One should take dome deep breaths so that it will release a bit of tension from the mind. Since the interview is very important, it would be better if one thinks it is important and therefore prepare for that. One may choose to sleep early the day before the interview by getting things ready such as ironing the clothes, getting the documents ready, etc. Next day get up early and do all the works calmly. A final practice of all those done before can be done and lastly ensure yourself to reach office at least 10-15 minutes before the interview.
